Re: Breaking news! (London Bridge attack)

It would appear that far too many of those committing these terrible terrorist offences are later found to be known to the authorities in one way or another. What is going wrong that this can keep happening year in and year out?

Our procedures somehow need to be changed so that this does not keep happening. What this means in effect I have no idea, that is for others to decide and implement.

It must be very difficult for police to monitor all those who are 'known' to them, there are I believe hundreds of them. Perhaps this should start by having more strict methods of deterring and punishing those who would at a later date commit these atrocities. That's a whole different area but one that is lacking in so many areas of crime in this country nowadays – make the punishment fit the crime.

Re: Breaking news! (London Bridge attack)

Yesterday at around 2:00 pm

Another mindless Islamic terrorist attack on innocent people crossing London Bridge two of whom have died .

Heroic action by bystanders .

The police then shot the man dead.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...terrorist.html

And as expected the terrorists name is not Joe Bloggs

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html

Shame on the judges who gave this man already a convicted terror is a paltry sentence in the first place .

Horrific! How can they let these 'people' out?
I've been saying for years that we don't know who or where they are, they could be forming an army somewhere right in plain sight!
A few thousand getting together could overwhelm us.

Re the hi-lighted part, Bazz, they said on the news this morning that he was already a convicted terrorist and was jailed in 2012 for terror activities! It seems he was given a longer sentence at first, but Appealed so was given a reduced one! He was out on licence yesterday.
This seems sooooooo wrong doesn't it.
He shouldn't have even been allowed an Appeal in the first place IMO.

It is definitely so wrong but so it continues, year in and year out. The only way to stop all crime escalating in this country, as is happening, is to ensure that crime of all kinds is suitably punished. Actions have consequences in all areas and that in my opinion is what is needed.

My answer to it is double all sentences without any remission at all. That would get those who seek to commit crime away from those who suffer the effects. Suitable punishment could even have a deterrent effect. With terrorism we, most of us, know what their ultimate aim is, well let us grant them that and rid the country of those who seek martyrdom in this way.
