Did anyone see on the news today about scientists trying to create artificial blood?
Apparently it will have a shelf life of around 1 year instead of the usual 35 days and will also be free of nasty viruses which donated blood currently has to be screened for. Also, it won't matter which blood group you are because artificial blood will suit any group.
On the surface it seems a miracle, but I wonder what the down sides may be?
Yes, it does doesn't it. I know very little about such things, but it did make me wonder if someone needed a lot of blood and they were given this artificial stuff whether it could make their body lacking in things it needs?
I wonder also how it would affect people (like my Mother), who get seriously anaemic? I don't know if it has any haemoglobin?
As I said, I don't yet know anymore than the bit I heard on the news.
