I was offered one a few years ago but decided after talking it over with the doctor not to go ahead. I would apparently no have the pain I have now but the mobility of the joint would be much less. At the moment on a good day I can reach above me but it hurts, if I had the surgery I would not be able to lift my arm above shoulder level. Recovery time was going to quite long too causing problems with work and dog walking and generally with life.

I am not advising anyone not to have it but look into he repercussions before making a decision.

As for someone over 80 having it, is there something that says only people under 80 are allowed to be pain free ? They only do it when pain killers no longer dull the pain from what I was told.

It's a pity that the NHS can't do attitude replacements for some under 80's
