Re: We're free at last

Very disappointed to read Kenneth Clarke views. A grumpy old man, bitching.

Hi

I do not understand your logic.

The EU will not stop selling us things, that would be stupid.

The point I was making is that we cannot immediately replace many of our EU Imports with those from outside the EU.

Over here, we define the stages of a construction project as follows.

Enthusiasm
Disillusionment
Panic
Search for the guilty
Punishment of the innocent
Praise and honors for the non-participant

I sincerely hope that the Brexit will not follow along these lines.

Why would the EU prevent that? You are a third country now. France sells airbusses to china, why shouldn't germany sell cars to the UK?
The problem is the tariff the UK puts on cars, making the german cars expensive, but since the UK is going to thrive, there shouldn't be a problem in that regard.

It's the cars produced in the UK intended for export to the EU, that is a problem. The EU is obliged to put tarifs on those cars, just as on cars from usa, japan etc. Poor europe is not able to afford those expensive british cars, so you have to sell them to the americans in that famous usa-UK deal.

Some numbers:
In 2017, the United Kingdom produced 1.75 million motor vehicles, exporting 800,000 of these within the European Union. The other way around, less than 3 out of 10 cars made in the EU are exported (27.4%), with roughly one third of total exports heading to the UK (or 11.7% of total production).

Concessions by both sides is all that is needed. If the year ends with BINO..dread to think.

Yes indeed. In that respect, Micron bears a distinct resemblance to Saddick Khan.

Good point. It could be quickly flooded to prevent Napoleon's successors trying to sneak through.
