He made quite a lot of challenging movies, apart from his spectacular ones. Lust for Life (Van Gogh), Champion, a brutal boxing film, Paths of Glory, about the terrible treatment of soldiers in World War One. I particularly enjoyed his westerns, Gunfight at Ok Corral, Last Train From Gun Hill. A proper movie star.
