Yes Spitty.
Proving domination was always the very ancient, archaic method of training, which sadly, some people still believe today.

However, it is no good guessing why they turned.

Horrible ! It's hard to imagine what might have happened, but two together is worrying . Strong dogs if they get upset.

Very tragic.

Re: Woman mauled to death

It was an horrific attack - no doubt about that - but why would anyone keep two dogs the size of mastiffs in a small terrace house - along with three children? Not a good idea. Dogs like those need space.

You are absolutely right ST .
This is madness
Something tells me these dogs were probably under exercised and probably undertrained .
So they were ok until they weren’t ok .
The neighbours remark “ they were her fellows dogs really “ is familiar why do men get these macho dogs and leave them with women and children ?

Re: Woman mauled to death

Our late Duncan yorkie used to get in such a temper if restrained from attacking other males he often turned his aggression on our peaceful retriever Mollie, so if he went I'd get between them so she was safe. If he realised it was me he stopped but there were a few times he had seen red and couldn't stop himself. He was always sorry afterwards and being small didn't do me any damage but I can easily see if was the other way round and it was a large dog lost control I can easily see how a person could be brought down and killed.

Dogs are all different and some damaged to the point they cannot control their emotions.
We forget or ignore that at our peril IMO

I agree with that Julie.

I do also believe that no dog wakes up in the morning, yawns, stretches, and then decides to kill it's owner for something to do!

I believe there is always a trigger.

Very true, Mups, I wonder if we will ever know the truth of this one. 'They' have already disposed of one of the dogs - do you think they will automatically do the same with the other one or, perhaps, keep it under observation for a while to see if they can find a reason?

I can't imagine anyone being or feeling safe with the other dog either....sad as it is I think they should both be put down.

It is in a secure kennel at the moment, Summer, so everyone is safe. Would just like to know why it happened.
