Sigh

Just disable JavaScript in your browser.

All adverts will disappear. All pop ups will disappear.

You'll get no pop ups relating to GDPR when you visit websites, the ones that insist you give them permission to hold data etc.

And all websites will load and run much much faster.

You will lose some functionality which for more websites is no problem whatsoever. If you get a site that you need such functionality (like online banking) then just go and re-enable javascript whilst you use that site then when you are done, disable it again. It is the safest way to use the internet.

In Internet Explorer go to

Tool, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level button

Scroll right down the option to the Scripting section

Disable the Active Scripting option.

Done

Interesting.

I never get any ads when login, I get them when I'm not.

PS don't have an ad blocker.

And I use Internet Explorer.

Yes, they're annoying, perhaps they help fund the forum.
What I find disturbing are the ones I see before signing in. I often have a look to see what threads are about before signing in.
I see ads for dating Asian girls!!!
No bearded gentlemen in sight!

Or, just download Adblock.

Re: Annoying ads in between posts

Adblock is a much more comprehensive solution, and with a click you can
1) disable it on specific sites if you want to or just suspend Adblock temporarily
2) you can also choose to view some ads on sites if you wish to
3) click on a specific ads that annoysyou and block those particular ads forever

So, you can block ALL ads, allow SOME ads to appear or see all ads and just block ones that you never want to see again.

1.Click on Safari in the menu bar located at the top of the screen.

2.Select Preferences from the drop-down menu that appears

3.Click the Security tab in the System Preferences screen.

4.Remove the check from the box in front of Enable JavaScript to disable the JavaScript.

I wouldn't personally go the "adblock" route but each to their own. Disabling Javascript pulls the rug under the feet of hackers and viruses and malware. Those people use javascripting to create pop ups and other scripts which in turn download the malware. Just cut them completely off by disabling Javascript and learn to live with the slight lack of functionality of some sites.
