Seriously?

If we walk out the door with our £39bn leaving the EU in turmoil, what will happen is the EU will rush back to the negotiating table and start to play ball instead of acting like tosspots. We will in very short measure be able to agree a really great deal for the UK, with great trading terms and all the rest and all of the farcical Project Fear crap will disappear in a puff of smoke.

The Benn Bill has been drafted with the singular purpose of preventing the UK from being able to put itself in that powerful negotiating position and to prevent us actually leaving.

We will never know because it will not happen. Resigned to the fact that I will never vote again, let those who believe that staying in EU will benefit UK rejoice, it won't last for long.

Absolutely spot on

Germany in recession and the rest of the EU being dragged down with them isnt exactly a great negotiating position

Especially when 100 billion of trade deficit is walking out the door.

You have spent £ 7 bn of that march2019 figure on membership fees for the months april-october. Without transition period another membership qoutum falls free (november2019-december 2020) of 14 bn. So only 39-7-14 = 18 bn is due. You could try to keep that illegally, but recent experiences with courts should tell you something about legal vs illegal.

The EU Treaties themselves are illegal as they fly in the face of the British Constitution. We should simply declare the Lisbon Treaty null and void and have done with it.

If only our representatives had the courage to do that. Major was weak, obviously well rewarded. A millionaire along with other former PM's.

He obviously didn't do that by himself. He must have been backed by a majority in the HoC, representing a majority of the people in the UK. That is a democracy in progress.

Well, in answer to your question, we will seriously be celebrating big time in this household by opening a bottle of Pino Grigio Superiore 2018 Breganze which we have been saving for the occasion.
