Free Trade Agreement

Hi

It seems things are moving and about time too.

A simple WTO Free Trade Agreement on Goods and Produce, solves the issue of 95% of Border Checks and protects jobs.

This was offered by the EU as soon as we decided to Leave, stupid not to accept it before.

It will hit Services, but so what, they are not part of WTO Agreements.

We operate our services world wide without agreements, just have to comply with local rules.

It is only the Stock Market and Foreign Exchange dealings which will be affected, minimal job losses but a lot of Tax lost as it will be payable in the EU, not here.

Basically it is Neutral, we save nothing from our payments to the EU, the Tax they get balances out that loss and away we go.

Of course you are right with respect to the wto free trade deal. But at present the talks between barnier and barclay are about may's deal with an alternative to the backstop. Do you think boris will get that rehashed deal through the commons?

Nothing means much until it gets through our Parliament.

If it hasn't got a "Remain" tag on it, it won't fly!

I tend to agree Ted, plus Barnier & Jrunker will probably pour cold
water all over it today?
Its part of the good guy/ bad guy system they've been using for
the last 3yrs, like the cops use to break down suspects?
I think most of what Boris is doing is to do with tory party survival
not primarily getting us out of eu?
If it were the latter he would unite with Nigel methinks?

WTO rules already govern all trading relations between the UK and the EU, including the single market, customs union, any other form of free trade agreement or even ‘no deal’. The rules remain the foundation for any arrangement.

WTO terms means particular conditions that countries have agreed in the WTO, such as their individual ‘commitments’ (pledges) on tariffs, agricultural subsidies or opening up of services markets. Its meaning
is therefore much narrower than WTO rules.

Without an agreement on their future trading relations trade between the UK and the EU will be based purely on WTO terms. Trading only on WTO terms is the default position, but in fact no country does it. Although many trade barriers have been lowered through the WTO, all countries seek even less friction. All 164 WTO members have better access to at least one market.
In crashing out of the EU you would have no free trade with the EU, moreover, the UK would lose the benefit of free trade agreements it now has with countries such as South Korea and Canada as a member of the EU.

Hi

Unfortunately not Donkeyman.

No Free Trade Agreement means we pay tariffs on our exports to the EU, Japan, Canada etc and are also subject to non tariff barriers and quotas.

Is that the same Nigel whose youKippers sank without trace at the last General Election with an underwhelming zero seats? Or the Nigel who's failed to get elected to Parliament 7 times? Good luck with that!
