I think the accent around here (and mine) could be described as not having any particular accent at all. Maybe a London one if a name had to be put on it. Typical southern I suppose. Funny really but you only have to go about 20 miles South West of here to start hearing an almost country accent.

Well I’m an ex Birmingham lass living on the edge of the Cotswolds. Moved out of Birmingham 43 years ago. Still use Brummy slang. We are nice people in the south as well.

Some of us come from Gods Country Devon and we speak English.

I don't know how we can be aware of our own accents?
If most people round us speak the same, we don't realise we have an accent or dialect, surely?

My auntie lived there, me born Hockley, then we moved to Erdington got married moved to Stechford.

Ethel, Was that Hockley Heath? Years ago, l used to go to the Wayfarer pub there.
