This easily portable instrument is one of my wife's favourites and she enjoys me playing it for her, so I thought I would share a little of it's capabilities with the music section.
I am unable to record and playback in here so here is single piece that shows how jigging the D minor chord to D minor can make all the difference.
The playing starts at around the 25seconds mark.

Is that what used to be called a hawian guitar Longdriver, l remember
I hired a band for our wedding that featured as its speciality a
Hawian guitar? unfortunately they let us down badly, and we had to
scramble some records and a player together at the last minute so
we never got to see or hear it?
But your version sounds great!

Hello Donkeyman. JUst to answer your question - hope I'm not being pedantic but I am a guitarist so that must count - No the Zither is a European instrument that has it's roots in antiquity. Small versions are called autoharps. A Hawaiian guitar is totally different but is also played on the lap or a small stand. It's also known as a lap steel guitar and is often used in country music and country rock. Here's one below.
