In 2016-17 migrants from the EEA (EU plus Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein) paid £4.7 BILLION more in taxes than they received in welfare benefits and public services.

The UK born population was a net cost to the treasury of £41.4 BILLION and non European migrants a cost of £9 BILLION.

Migrants have little or no impact on the overall employment of the UK-born workforce with little effect on wages.

EU migration has brought a massive net benefit for health and social care services both through the taxes paid by migrants and by increasing the work force. "There is NO evidence that migration has reduced the quality of health-care".

There is no evidence that migration has reduced parental choice of schools or the educational attainment of UK-born children.

I could go on but I think those with more than 2 brain cells would have known this already, rather than believing the clap trap of the leave campaign.

How many more of the nonsensical reasons to leave did you Brexitier wallies believe?

You are being disingenuous.

No one said it declared war on Ukraine.

Solasch asked if EU 'policies' had started any conflicts.

The war in Ukraine is the classic example of EU meddling having unforseen consequences.

Btw, Annie, I was responding to Solasch. You're not his spokesperson. He has plagued this forum with is pro-EU/Anti English bile so we know he can speak for himself, thankyou

Indeed it is. It was as a direct result of the EU's expansionist policies.

The same policies are also rubbing Russia up the wrong way, and the idiots in Brussels have clearly not learnt not to poke the Russian bear.

The crisis in Ukraine was not the result of EU meddling but down to the then President seeking closer ties with Russia rather than closer ties with the EU. This infuriated a great many of the citizens in the West and delighted many others in the East. The progression of talks between the EU and Ukraine had been going on for years prior to this without any conflict. If you don't know the history of the region I suggest you read up before commenting, because it's the history that determined what happened there.

It's Ukraine doing the poking because they want independence. Do you not recognise them as a sovereign state capable of making their own decisions? That's like saying Britain is a puppet of the US and should not upset them.

You were saying they should answer to Russia and not make their own decisions to join the EU. Is that independence in your world?

Well the figure on the bus which you quoted wasn't a definite it said we could not we will. Subtle difference that remainers seem unable to understand.

The rest has recently been disproved I can't find the link but only last month they admitted wages had been adversely affected and that most eu migrants earned far less than they needed to make them net pluses for the country and the benefits have over the years poured out of uk into other countries where they send their money home to. When you look at lack of houses it almost exactly mirrors number of eu migrants here which can't just be a coincidence.

Some of the leave voters I know couldn't understand the "subtle difference".

As for the EU workers it is not about tax receipts but about value added. They have added a great deal to GDP. It's about productivity Julie and efficiency. The economy is not just about tax receipts.
