Re: Chinese Coronavirus

OMG 242 new deaths within the last 24 hours ? I am starting to think it may be time to hoard food and hide out. I am most worried about those cases which have slipped between the cracks and they are further spreading this virus.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

If there are 60k + cases why are only 6k recovered? It sounds like you can be sick for several weeks.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Thing is its a flu like virus and lots of people die of flu each year.
The ones that mainly die are the elderly ( that’s us ) and the vulnerable .
The rest recover .

Worse on the whole than flu if you’re in the vulnerable category ?
Hope you’re free of it Muddy .

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

What is the new diagnosis method?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-51482994

The province now includes "clinically diagnosed cases" in the number of confirmed cases.

This means it includes those showing symptoms, and having a CT scan showing an infected lung, rather than relying only on the standard nucleic acid tests.
Nucleic acid test?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nucleic_acid_test

Nucleic acids are the biopolymers, or small biomolecules, essential to all known forms of life. The term nucleic acid is the overall name for DNA and RNA.

A nucleic acid test (NAT) is a technique used to detect a particular nucleic acid sequence and thus usually to detect and identify a particular species or subspecies of organism, often a virus or bacteria that acts as a pathogen in blood, tissue, urine, etc.
Now I know .....

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Hi

The virus is now having a significant economic effect.

Hyundai have shut down car production. JCB are now on short time.

All down to supply problems.

Wuhan is a major electronics hub and it's factories are shut down,
