They love rotting apples on the tree or fallen apples on the ground so if you have an apple tree in your garden you have a good chance of catching a Fieldfare scrumping your fruit

Thank you very much everyone .
Basser he was eating an old cooking apple I threw out I nearly drew the apple in too .- perhaps I will if I get around to it

Yep Muddy they love their apples but prefer rotting ones probably due to them being softer i would think

Close to where i live round about November/ December time the Fieldfare flock together in certain fields in their thousands
ravaging the fields for insects fruit and seeds etc etc,

such a beautiful bird but very timid they don't seem to mind us creeping up on them in a car but people doing the same
are feared and they soon fly off

PS ..yes the apple in your painting would look IMO
very appropriate
