Re: A Cheer For Boris!

Sir Bill Cash has been positively effusive about Boris today.

' Senior eurosceptic Tory MP Sir Bill Cash compares the prime minister to Ancient Greek statesman Pericles, saying Boris Johnson is "the first citizen of his country and, like him, has saved our democracy".

Sir Bill adds: "Like Alexander the Great, Boris has cut the Gordian knot. Churchill and Margaret Thatcher would have been deeply proud of his achievement, and so are we.

"This bill, for our future relationship with the EU, provides a new, exciting era for our trade with Europe and the rest of the world on sovereign terms." '

This is nonsense as some are finding out.

We are not allowed to export fresh sausages, minced meat products, recovered meat for example.
IIRC, the EU tried to ban our sausages several years ago because they didn't meet the EU's definition of a sausage. Now we're totally out of the EU, there is nothing stopping them from banning the import of our sausages into the EU. To get round this, I seem to remember, our sausage makers started to label them "bangers" instead and the problem seemed to go away.

All over bar the SNP shouting.

The Bill will now move to the House of Lords to be debated by peers before a vote tonight.

If passed in both houses, it will be given Royal Assent and become law late tonight or in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Amen.

Knowing how anti-British the House of Lords has been up to press, I wonder what will happen if they don't pass it.

Presumably, it would have to go back to the Commons, who would push it through and sod the Lords.

I don't know for how long that would delay things.

Major and Blair have been given the order to button it.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/polit...heresa-may-spt

These two comedians the Dick and Dom of politics.

https://news.sky.com/story/brexit-ne...roval-12175392

Who voted against the deal?

According to the House of Commons' list, 44 SNP MPs, 11 Liberal Democrat MPs and three Plaid Cymru MPs were among those to vote against the deal.

They were joined by one Labour MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, in the "No" lobby.

There were no votes recorded for 36 other Labour MPs, suggesting most of them rebelled against their party leader Sir Keir Starmer and abstained.

Independent MP Jeremy Corbyn, the former Labour leader, also did not vote.

There was also no vote recorded for two Conservative MPs, veteran eurosceptics Owen Paterson and John Redwood.

A total of 359 Conservative MPs and 162 Labour MPs abided by party orders and voted in favour of the EU trade agreement.

Surprised about John Redwood.

Yes, although he did ask a few things which I'm guessing from his vote were not adequately answered.
