Re: Why join up and not post

Stella you have posted many times, I was thinking more about those with zero posts. Maybe it would be an idea that if thay had not posted at least once in the first month of joining their membership should be withdrawn.
No forum works if nobody posts and these people seem to have no wish to participate

Re: Why join up and not post

Sometimes you join a forum on a whim - you're bored - browsing the web and it seems like a good idea at the time - then later you wish you hadn't bothered.

This is a regular question on every forum I know of..
It doesn't bother me but I do think it's a good idea to delete the membership if they haven't posted in a month.

People join forums for different things, and people are at different levels of experience of sites and forums (some may not actually know how to post - often just filling out their profile and thinking the site acts like a social network).

So just use the forum for how _you_ want to use it (within rules of course!) and let everyone else do the same

Re: Why join up and not post

I have joined forums, but shortly after you find it is full of cliques and sub-groups and you are either ignored and/or attacked. From that point on, I decide not to post, just to read because posting anything is a waste of time. (not talking about this forum of course)

I wouldn't join a forum and merely read posts, I prefer to participate and make friends

Same here but can also see where Azz is coming from, but I still think the month option is a good idea for zero posts from members

It is a bit like looking though someones window to see what is going on inside

Not gonna happen here sorry. People can use the forum how they wish so long as it's within our rules.

Gonna close this thread as I don't want anyone to feel any less of a member due to activity. We have plenty of incentives to get people to post, but for those who can't or don't want to that's fine too - lurkers are just as welcome as everyone else
