Re: Gravitational Waves.
It’s always good to see progress in our attempts to understand the great beyond. I only saw a bit of this story on the early news, “it opens up things beyond our imagination” were the words of the newscaster, that’s great because we can all use our imaginations on what we think lies out there and not have scientific unproved theories rammed down our throats by ambitious scientists trying to make a name for themselves. Give me a good science fiction writer any day, look all the science fiction that has become reality today and was frowned upon and sneered at by the top scientists back then, who remembers their parents telling them not to read that science fiction rubbish years ago? Just use your imagination and wait I say.Re: Gravitational Waves.
When the century started we felt that the main physical questions had been settled. Even after things got more complicated with the discovery of Radioactivity and Quantum Mechanics we still felt that a consistent model of existence had been discovered. But now we could not incorporate gravitation into the standard model of particle physics and reconcile that with the varying concepts of cosmology. The real spooks that we did not have it all came with the discovery of Quantum Entanglement at the microscopic scale and then the detection in the last few decades of Dark Energy and Dark Matter. After Einstein's General Theory we began to believe that we understood everything but in the last few decades it has appeared that we do not and all the impossables like Time Travel and Hyperspace somehow again seem up for grabs in Science Fiction?
