A group of us went to Egypt and had dinner with Hawass. He believes that there are tunnels under the Sphinx. Yet he claims that these tunnels have been filled by water through the increase of the water levels of the Nile.

I believe Hawass and his group for whatever reason do not want to bring these tunnels in the open

He's probably protecting his future, one step at a time.

I saw him in a documentary where they set out to find Tutankhamen's mothers true identity.

Fascinating stuff.
