We too remember those who fought in wars. Both those who lost their lives then, and those who lost their lives slowly and gradually afterwards, wondering why they survived while comrades fell? Feeling guilt about the bombs they dropped, that killed innocent women and children, not only those of 'the enemy', but those of friendly nations too.
Yes OGF lest you forget.

And those who were not called upon to make the sacrifice? Those were heroes too.
Those staying behind on airfields, and after a raid had to scrape the remnants of their comrades out of the planes. They too sacrificed a lot.

What a strange question to ask on this day of all days, a day which means so much to this country and those of us who have lost relations in two wars.

Doing our damnest to stop being taken over for a third time, only this time by stealth rather than weapons and loss of life.

My father-in-law flew on a lancaster, above dresden. He used to ask me that question. It is worth thinking about.
