HMRC Telephone Calls Scam

HMRC (the tax collectors!) are warning about scammers targeting homes via the landline telephone system (your home phone?).

Apparently HMRC have been very successful in reducing rogue texts and emails but that means that the bad guys are swarming over to using the ordinary landline phones to keep going.

Apparently they have received notice of 60,000 such scam calls in the 6 months up to Jan 2019.

They are advising anyone who gets one of these calls, on the home landline phone, to hang up and then ring HMRC to report the call.

Do not give the caller ANY details of your accounts, etc.

(This from the Daily Telegraph this morning)

If they ring you saying that they are ringing on behalf of the HMRC - they are, almost certainly, lying!

Re: HMRC Telephone Calls Scam

Thanks for the heads up. I'd not heard of that one.
