Formula E racing on BBC2

Quite by accident earlier this morning I found Formula E racing when switching channels from early morning football, which I dislike.

This racing is just like F1 used to be, full of overtaking and everything which I reckon F1 often lacks these days now it has become just racing cars following each other around a track.

Anyone interested in seeing what Formula E is like then it’s available on catch-up TV, see link below:

It looks good Baz, I read about it on the news this morning, but although I agree with you about the formula one procession, I'm still looking forward to the start of the f1 season in Australia next week.....

Other forms of motor sport are available for those who gave up on formula paint drying years ago lol

Geez is F1 boring this past decade or more

More overtakes in one lap than a season of F1

And of course there’s all year BTCC

Formula E seems far better than F1 as that has become rather boring but I have to admit nothing beats actually going to a Formula 1 race. I went to one at Silverstone in the late 1990s and the atmosphere was brilliant and like nothing else I had ever experienced. The actual sound of all the exhausts with the cars at full power made one's body vibrate it was that powerful. I was standing close to the track of the start of the straight leading to Stowe Corner and it was quite something, an experience never to be forgotten! Nowadays I do watch F1 but in years gone by every qualifying race and the race itself was followed and never missed, not quite the same these days though.

Thanks for the You Tube links. As an ex-biker and after two accidents myself I do appreciate the Isle of Man TT Races, the speed and obvious danger fully engages me whenever the races are on. I've been to the Isle of Man but never to the TT Races, not as yet anyway.

British Touring Car races are what I started watching when F1 became so boring, far more exciting to watch touring cars that's for sure, that really is proper competitive racing.

I too used to race bikes and indeed formula 1 sidecars for many years when younger , today I still ride the odd track day and have two ‘quick bikes’ in my garage road legal but mostly I use them on track time allowing .
The TT is simply the best holiday ever ever ever , I’ve had many friends go over the years , many not interested in bikes but they’ve tried the TT be it for a day or a week and every one of them has declared that yes ....best time ever so please bump it up your bucket listing ... every June it’s the best place on the planet !

Onboard TT practise lap with speedo in ( mph !)

Notice the speedo stops working when he goes over 185 mph as isn’t calibrated for the 200 they all often hit on roads lol

Yes formula e is dull, F1 isn't much better, if you want excitement it's TT or superbikes. How they can do that is beyond me.

Re: Formula E racing on BBC2

If it all goes quiet in the snug later for an hour then you might enjoy this ... unlike F1 were multi millionaires keep away from the great unwashed and charge hundreds of £££ to allow fans to stand 400m away from the circuit to watch 2 hours of cars following each other around a little strip of tarmac with huge runoff areas and sand pits

The iom TT welcomes families , it’s free , the pits are open to the public 24/7 , you are just as likely to find yourself queuing for an ice cream in front of ‘your hero’ .. it lasts all week ? Two weeks if you go for practice ) and they race on 37miles of roads with no run offs or sand pits , hit higher speeds than F1 on mostly road legal bikes and all in all are the nicest bunch of ‘stars’ on the planet by far !

Well, this seasons F1, might be different, Ferrari are looking strong, but it’ll probably be a Mercedes whitewash again..
