Just a thought!

TV Cop shows.

If the budgets spent on TV cop shows was actually spent on real policing - we'd never have any crime!

If the programme is good enough, there will be no crime (except domestic stuff) cos everyone will stop in and watch it.

S T , i enjoy the tv cop series , i find them very interesting , especially when they break the front doors in and get the crims . Also i smile at how very young the police look and how handsome too !

What would we do without the police i have much respect for the work they do to keep us safe .

Last week a series where a young lady police officer searching for some who were downloading illegal porn not only arrested them for this but £2000 thousand in drugs cash was found in the house .

Re: Just a thought!

Morning ST, Morning everyone.

Funny you should say that. I watched a recording of episode 1 of a new series "Manhunt - Catch Me If You Can" this morning. It shows real life police chasing and catching real criminals. In one of the instances, Tactical Police were trying to find and arrest a drug addict who had stolen a charity box and burgled houses to get money for his habit. They knew he used a certain chemist to get his Methidone so did a stake-out for two days, using a team of about six police officers just sitting in their car for about 7 hours each day!!! it even showed them eating and drinking whilst they were taking it in turns to have lunch. The first day he didn't turn up, but they caught him on the way to the chemist just before the chemist closed o the second day.

Now, I am all for Police taking lowlifes who would steal a charity box, even worse - burgle peoples homes, off the street, but 6 police officers sitting there for 7 hours a day for two whole days!! that, to me, smacks of overkill. No wonder one cannot get the police to come in a real emergency.
(sorry if that sounds like a criticism of our boys in blue, it isn't, I blame the top brass). two policemen could have done the job just as well. There was definitely no need for 6 of them, he didn't even put up a fight when arrested, he was so skinny and hollow from drugs. What a waste of manpower.
