Smoked Garlic? Do You Ever Cook With It?

Until yesterday, l didn’t know bulbs of smoked garlic existed!

My son in law is a brilliant cook. I tell him he should apply to go on Masterchef or similar.
I asked him why his food is always so tasty, he said he has an array of herbs, flavourings and seasonings and adds them, as and when he feels necessary to give the food a lovely flavour.
He showed me a bulb of garlic and told me to sniff it, it had a smokey smell that l had never come across before.

Were you aware of smoked garlic? If so, do use them in your cooking?

Yes I've bought it before, it's quite a strong flavour imo.

I tend to love anything smoked and if I ever find a real smoke house like the well known one in Orford, Suffolk, then I can't resist buying allsorts of things. Smoked fish, sausages, hams etc etc

Making me hungry now !

Went on a course a few years back on how to cure and smoke your own food. Surprisingly simple to do and a useful skill to have to preserve meat/fish longer if that ever becomes a necessity.

I saw it for the first time last year in a Portuguese deli in London, bought one (a bulb) and didn't really know what to make of it. Think I prefer the young fresh juicy stuff.

Yes I’ve heard of it. It appeared on my Morrisons bill (£1) a few days ago instead of weight of brown onion. How the cashier confused the two I don’t know!!
