Although I agree that we should never judge a book by it's cover, we still do it. I think there are some professions where the person should look the part even if it is just out of respect for the customer or the patient.I dressed like a punk when I was younger and don't have a problem with the outfit but I wouldn't want someone covered in safety pins performing surgery on me.

Once I managed to drop my tools whilst unloading my car, a young lad with a mohecan haircut and safety pins through his nose and ears came over and said "excuse me sir, would you like a hand to pick these up", surprised to have made such a preconception based on appearance I replied "Go ahead Punk, make my day".
