Artangel, threads like this one rank up there with the reason that this forum is so wonderful.Who knew (probably everyone but me) that marigolds could improve the color of yolks! How brilliant of you to consider such a thing! How long will it take and how many marigold plants will you need to notice a difference?
You weren't cheeky at all. In fact, this kind of interaction is what we need more of to bring people out from behind their computers, homes, fences, and gates to meet people. I am sure you are both happier for your taking the initiative.

It was a bit cheeky but I would have done it Art.I was walking the late Fluffy-boy Floyd past a load of stuff put out for recycling. Behind it were some rusty barrel hoops leaning against the wall. I knocked on the door and asked if I could take them. The chap put them behind the wall so the recycle people wouldn't take them as I had to get my car to put them in, too heavy to carry.
Once I'd put them safely in my boot, the chap asked what I wanted them for. I told him I was going to fix them together to make a sphere for my garden.
By the look on his face I could tell he wished he'd thought of that!
There were enough for two spheres, I gave some to my daughter to make one, they're lovely!
