Re: Would You Give Up Your Seat To An ‘Old Bird’?

Yes, it all depends on who has the greater need.

I would stand up for anyone who was frailer or more wobbly than me, regardless of how old they were or whether they were male or female.

Call me an old fashioned git. Call me a dinosaur. Call me whatever you like. But I was bought up being taught good manners and to show consideration for the needs of others. I'm 66 and I still offer my seat on a streetcar, bus, ferry, train whatever - to somebody who obviously needs it. Regardless of sex or age.

Good manners and consideration for others never goes out of fashion.
They are the trademark of a civilised society.

Quite right Keezoy, me too. The trouble is she doesn't look old or in need . I reckon most people were sitting there thinking .... 'Blimey, she looks just like Lulu'.

A good way to get a seat on public transport is to ask, "Excuse me, do you mind if I sit on your lap?" if they so "no" or get up so you don't sit on them you get a seat either way

Reminds me of a Dolly Parton quote.
"I've spent all that money to look cheap."
