I think you are right there Donks.

If my car didn't start tomorrow, I would be really surprised whereas years ago it was almost the norm. It was nearly always points, condenser (remember those ) plugs or leads.

Indeed I do remember adjusting the points and setting the timing, I still have my old timing gun, adjusting the tappets was another one, I miss those days...not..crawling around underneath fixing exhausts and brakes, much easier to pay someone else to do it....
