Yep, if it doesn't hold it's charge chances are it might be ready for retiring. Ten years is good for a battery, I also had to replace mine last year after 9 years.

Measure the terminal voltage - if it is a normal flooded lead acid battery then anything over 12.7v is a good fully charged battery. Measure the voltage after it has been resting for a while. If it is 11.8v or less (after charging) it is rubbish

You can also measure the voltage when it is on charge if it is a trickle charger then (from memory) it will be about 13.4v perhaps a touch less depending on how sophisticated it is. If it is a smart charger then it could be different to that depending on the stage it is at.
