The trouble is the problem causing errors like that could be a power supply starting to fail, a dying graphic card, a faulty stick of RAM or a hard drive reaching the end of its life. If it's an old PC system it might end up cheaper to just replace it rather than replace bits of the old one piecemeal.

Will take it in for an M.O.T. as soon as the C19 restrictions allow. Hasn't had a check since last January!

It sounds as if you have already given it a check with the clean-up etc. Computers running Windows benefit from that from time to time. if it hasn't given trouble since carrying out one or more of the actions you took, all could be OK now.

If the computer runs OK between now and when you are happy to go out, it may not be necessary to take it anywhere. There is plenty of time to see how it goes.
