Irish Apple Cake
Hi everyone, after discussing Irish cooking on the general forum yesterday, I decided after all these years later to try and replicate a cake my mum used to bake. It was delicious but I had never attempted it myself for some reason - until yesterday. It has come out lovely and I am going to have another slice with my of tea this afternoon. It is a well known recipe that one can find online but she always baked it this way and it was so easy thought I would share it with you in case you wanted to try it out for yourselves.. Enjoy it if you do….
IRISH APPLE CAKE
Preheat the oven to 180/350/Gas 4
You will need:-
3 Bramley Apples
110 grams real Butter
1 beaten Egg
Sugar to sweeten the Apples (I used about 50 ml in my measuring jug but sweeten your Apples how you like them)
110 grams Plain Flour
110 grams Caster Sugar
Melt the Caster Sugar and Butter together in a saucepan and allow to cool.
Add the beaten Egg
Add all the Flour and mix.
Stew the Apples
Place the Apples into a cake tin and add Sugar to sweeten to your own taste
Pour the cake mixture over the Apples
Cook for one Hour.
Enjoy !
