Flu jabs

My husband and I had our yearly flu jabs this morning, it seems a worthwhile thing to do.

Have other posters had theirs?

Re: Flu jabs

I had mine on Wednesday. I normally go to my doctors surgery but Boots were offering free flu jabs to anybody, so I decided to get one there. As a diabetic I have been having them for over 20 years and think that we should all take advantage of them. Flu is an awful illness, that can take weeks to recover from, and as we are all getting older, we need to remember that some older people don't recover.

Re: Flu jabs

I often smile and wonder if the government have devised this method of injecting the old folk in a way to kill them off ( my cynical sense of humour ) after all its free !

I did have the flu jab once , I was working with a lot of patients and didn't want to be exposed so thought I'd have it done , I was very ill for about 10 days . I said never again and never will , I'll take my chances .

You may well have been ill without having the vaccination if you were already incubating an illness Susan .
The vaccination does not provide instant immunity neither does it prevent you becoming ill if you are already infected.

Re: Flu jabs

I had mine in May. I tried to get it done at my doctors but couldn't get an appointment for about three days (let's face it a flu jab is not critical medicine) so I wandered down to my local Chemist and paid $10 for a shot done in a few minutes. I don't think I will bother the doctor in future just to save $10.
