Re: Statins

Hi Arthur, yes my cholestral has always been very good. Before I went on Statins it was only 4.2, but because I am Diabetic Type I, they said I had to go on Cholestral pills, which brought me down to 3.1, and as soon as I came off them I went back to 4.2, but now all of a sudden it has shot up to 5.1, but my GP says that's probably because I have been under a lot of stress and trauma from my surgery I had done in October. My Diabetes was very bad as well, but I think I have that under control now.

Re: Statins

Got my blood test results today.

Level in September 2012 = 7.7

Level in December 2012 = 4.7

Doctor seems pleased and I'm happy with that too. stevmk2

Re: Statins

Forgot to mention that now my surgery has tests done on liver function, kidney function, thyroid and other things I can't remember now and the Doctor told me that he checks results of liver function for indications of damage caused by statins, which is encouraging as a friend of mine was rushed into hospital a few years ago and that problem was renal failure due to damage by his statins.

I did ask him about my Coenzyme Q10 levels but apparently they don't do that but rely on each patients to tell them if they experience fatigue; an indication.

Worth remembering if you're on statins and get tired for reasons that aren't explained by "lifestyle" or other causes.

I looked up Measuring of Coenzyme Q10 levels and only found articles in America stating that experts there are saying that in certain cases, Coenzyme Q10 measuring should be automatic.

Dunno how it's done because the articles I read were extremely complicated! stevmk2
