I know its basically a Christian church base of a set up, but in my area they are both compassionate and assist without any catch regardless of religious status of those in need. Homelessness, modern slavery and poverty are seriously sought out and help is given.

That is nonsense. Are branch members not trusted, most frustrating for you.

Maybe it's a case of them wanting to have just one revenue stream to deal with. The main or head office in London then had control of all finances which for them is probably better than allowing branches to have anything to do with finances.

Yes Baz l understand the reasons, but they lost my
contribution because of this, as if l visit the branch now l
Just ring the bell and they let me in, no more said! But l am supposed to put£1 into an honesty box each time l visit, so
I suppose they get their money that way?lts a very nice
clean quiet place with good facilities and the beers cheap!
So l will still go there on occasion!

That has just crossed RNLI off my list as well.

I never give to Oxfam because the money doesn't go where it is needed.

I never give to Cancer Research charities because of the appalling experiments they do on animals.

The list grows smaller every year!!

I heard on R4 this afternoon that donations from millenials have actually increased as a result.

Typical response. Those that now choose not to donate to the RNLI because of their stance in sending donations abroad are being branded as racist.

If they receive funds from non UK citizens and businesses too, then I suppose it's a fair deal. Must obviously come out of a different account. So what... if it helps anyone in need then it has to be a good thing.

The RNLI was established to fund an emergency marine service around the coast of the British isles.

No matter where funding comes from it should be spent on the UK.

The money being spent on things outside of the UK, no matter how much of a "good cause" amounts to misappropriation of funds.

I do wonder what the purpose of the RNLI charity was declared to be when it was first registered and if it was changed then when, by whom, and changed to what.
