What do we fry with !

I think we all remember our mothers and then ourselves frying with Lard and roasting with Dripping.

Each were kept in separate dishes in the larder and many taste buds were tickled by a meaty jellied dripping butty after a roast had been made. (I still dibble at the memory)

After all the foody hoo ha about how orrid fats are and the pushing of oil usage, those in the know now say LARD IS GOOD. and OIL is bad

Depends what I am cooking, Steven likes his eggs fried in bacon fat, as a veggie I like mine done in a smear of butter.
I have olivio oil for many things, and some beef fat for others.


Mushrooms have to be done in butter.

I put half Olive Oil and half Sunflower Oil in my oil dispenser and use that for frying and sautéing and 100% sunflower oil for chips and deep fat frying. I will occasionally use butter and oil for frying some foods.

We use sunflower oil but there again, we don't eat much fried food.

I had far too many fry ups over the years and possibly leading eventually to my Gall bladder having to be removed. Now other half keeps me strictly away from even a fried egg.

Most things I do on the top ring I dry fry them. If its sausages or chops they go in the oven and fry in their own juices. Hubby does like his eggs fried which I do in Sunflower oil, mine I dry fry in a non stick fry pan and mushrooms with a bit of butter.

Solo I so remember butties with meat dripping. Made me laugh last week when they said it is better to use lard than the oils we have been using.

That's easy for me - I haven't fried anything for years, not even eggs!

I use Crisp & Dry but not the oil, the one that looks just the same as lard, I don't eat meat but when cooking it I would always drain of the fat and keep it, my hubby loves dripping and bread, I did too till 1989 when I went Veggie.
