We're off tommorrow to collect a trailer of horse pooh for the compost, what (to me) is far more worrying is that the water you drink is basically toilet waste that has been through a couple of filters in the local sewerage works

Mother nature never makes a mistake when filtering compost on the garden and making vegetables grow but what if some worker at the local sewage works just 'forgot' to turn a tap on or off

Re: Ps in the garden

I was slightly startled at first read, but actually it makes a lot of sense. When you think about it, a huge amount of crops in the world are fertilized by what's known as "night soil", as our ancestors did too before the advent of chemical fertilizers. And a lot of those are doing harm to the water supply and the fish when the run off pollutes the rivers/bay, etc. But I don't think I'll be doing it myself!

Did you know that actress Sarah Miles has been drinking her own urine for the last 30 years?

Yuk!!! That makes me queasy just thinking of it. But the astronauts do drink water that's been cleansed/purified from their own urine .....

Losos, I agree, was going to say something similar.

Hmm, . . I wondered why her face was wrinkly.

Tee hee Mags
Have you read Captain Corelli's Mandolin? The heroine is always mortified in that, as her father, the doctor, waters the herbs every morning!
I think I'd prefer the p going into the compost first ... but I acknowledge that eating any veg raw, even well washed, may mean ingesting .. .well, anything really. Traces of cat, dog, fox, hedgehog, bird, slug, snail leavings. Best not to think too much
