Leaf blowers - surely one of the most annoying inventions ever.

A damned sight easier than raking, though!

It depend on the wind conditions. If it's blowing it's sometimes quicker to rake them.

Raking also helps the lawn

No, the answer is to go indoors, have a cup of tea, then find something else to do until the wind drops!

Which raised the question: why are motorbikes usually much louder than cars?

Most motorbikes, and certainly some of the noisiest ones, have smaller engines than cars.

They both have silencers so why, then, are motorbike silencers less effective than those on cars? Are they smaller? Should they be bigger?

Are there any legal limits on the noise issuing from motorbikes and cars? Are they comparable?

Questions, questions! And I apologise in advance for straying from leaf blowers, but an interesting question none the less.
