Beautiful animals aren't they.
I also love the way they look out for each other.
I have a book here somewhere, showing elephants can actually cry from distress, same as us..

Re: Last of the Super Tuskers

Talking of those magnificent tusks, there has been a Rhino killed in a Zoo of all places. You'd think a captive one would be safe, wouldn't you.

I was told they shot it through both eyes before sawing the horn off with a chain saw, but this article doesn't mention eyes, it just says he was shot three times in the head.

You'd have thought zoo's would have alarms and spotlights and CCTV wouldn't you, so don't know how this ever happened.

Re: Last of the Super Tuskers

National parks in Africa carry large quantities of tusks, which they
obtain from. culling & from natural causes.
These are periodically destroyed by burning, this is carried out with
high media coverage. The reason given for doing this is that it will
destroy the market for ivory, and thus stop poaching.
I have long questioned this policy, which is supported by animal
rights groups, because l tjhink that if they are already collecting the
tusks on a natural basis, why not put them up for sale by auction
instead of burning, this should deter poachers from the risky
business of poaching as long as prices are not too high for them.
This would also create a small income for the national parks.
So, instead of killing living, viable animals,we just wait for them to
die, as we are currently doing.l cannot understand the present
policy we are following at all. I know there is a lot of corruption in
high places, but l can't believe animal rights groups can be
involved.

Best regards.Donkeyman.

Human with a high powered rifle is not sport or bravery, it is slaughter of something which is inedible.

It is totally wrong.

You are not brave or heroic, you are nothing special at all.

If you want to prove yourself go up against a tiger or an elephant with a knife, see how far you get.

I love tracking down Tigers in the wild, I could never hurt one.

Trophy Hunters who kill animals for sport are scum.
I despise them with a vengeance, I'm not a violent person but I really would like to shoot the nasty scum dead. Breaks my heart how we are losing our wildlife partly because of these evil pigs.

Canned hunting of Lions is horrible and I just cannot get my head around why anyone would want to participate in such a thing.

Re: Last of the Super Tuskers

Would love to see them do this same thing with the Tasmanian Tiger (thylacine) some day!
