Do you recognise this music business person?



I've just seen her on TV and, although she was well-known, I hadn't got a clue who she was .....

I only recognised her because I saw her on tv a few weeks ago and was a bit taken aback by the hair.

She is an amazing woman (am I allowed to say that?) what she doesn't know about music is nobody's business. She was also the first female presenter on Radio1.

Indeed she is ..... I always thought that she was my age or younger so I'm surprised to discover that:

Her first broadcast on the BBC was on 14 September 1963 as a panellist on Juke Box Jury, and she contributed to Woman's Hour in 1964 and hosted programmes on the BBC Light Programme in 1966.
Although I knew that:

She started at Radio 1 on 5 October 1970 with a Sunday evening show.

In 1978, Nightingale became the main presenter of The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC2 as a replacement for long-time host Bob Harris.

One of my walking colleagues is 86 (just old enough to be my mum) and looks my age ..... I'm wondering if Annie's pronounced sun-tan is a clue to her aged appearance, although she is very small and very thin, too .....
