Seriously, it's probably old fashioned poaching, not some sort of ancient ritual.

Ahhh - a Barnsley chop - delicious !!!

Good idea. You must have some nice frisky young horses there.

Re: Sheep killed

Strange how they were 'professionally' butchered.

Perhaps either someone's who's job it is, or else someone who steals sheep regularly and knows his stuff, I would have thought.

A year ago another farmer found the remains of 11 of his sheep down Oxford way.

There must have been several people working together on this, because if one sheep at a time was caught it would send out an alarm call, and the rest of the flock would run off.
So to catch a whole group must have taken a bit of man power.

Re: Sheep killed

Some of the sheep farms down this way also keep Llamas or alpacas in with the sheep too - they make excellent guards as they're very posessive !!!

Re: Sheep killed

That must be a terrible worry for farmers because many sheep are just left to roam on accessible areas with no security. I hope this doesn't end up with rights of way being closed.

Yes indeed Annie. Some sheep are a long way from the farm houses.
