A true gentleman

The sort of deed that gives you hope, and deserves the recognition in the media for a selfless act.

Re: A true gentleman

How lovely is that. That's a real man you don't need all that macho nonsense to be a hero.

Re: A true gentleman

At last! Some news about people being nice to people!

We need more news like this. I am sure there are countless times when people do lovely things for others, but we so rarely hear about them.

That was like a breath of fresh air after the terrible news of the last few days.

I hope he does receive some sort of award - he deserves one.

Re: A true gentleman

Here's a personal one. I was dropped off at work last night and as I crossed the road to get to my building I did a wonderful job of falling flat on my face. Graceful it wasn't.

Two security guards and a rather jolly chap from the pizzeria all dashed into the traffic to help me up and stop me getting run over. Insisted on helping me into the building I work in and wouldn't go until I had a cup of tea in my hand and people on my floor had been alerted to me being a bit shook up.

Everyone really lovely to me.

All under 20 I'd say too so I won't hear anything bad said about young people today.

Re: A true gentleman

I have one, too. I was getting fuel at the fuel station in Lerwick. I'd just paid, when a chap came in,all flustered, asking if they had any jump-leads he could borrow as his car had a totally flat battery and he was blocking the pumps. They didn't...but I always carry a set in my Land Rover..so I turned round 180 degrees, went nose-to-nose with his car-it started immediately, one we jumped the leads across. He was both totally cringing with embarrassment and desperate to repay me with a banknote [which was £20]...which just wasn't going to happen! It was NICE to be able to assist, his wife was sat in his car,not trying to get out-he mentioned once we'd got him started that her wheelchair was in the rear of his car. I just waved and backed up,drove off. Job jobbed. I hope he spent that £20 giving his equally embarrassed wife a nice afternoon snack overlooking some of the Shetland coastline...[we have some FINE tearooms] The IRONIC thing was-it was one of those electric cars,he had;one you can charge-up at fuel stations!
