New Immigration Rules

The government needs to think again about this. As it is, at the moment, they are proposing deporting immigrants who after being here for 6 years, are not earning £36,000 per annum.
This needs to be qualified to leave alone people in trades that we need,ie Nurses. The first to go should be people who have not worked and are only here to claim benefits.
After tha,t the way people are admitted to the country needs serious work. We can do nothing about EU members, but outside of that, only admit people of trades we need. Plus of couse a certain amount whose lives are in danger at home.
Of immigrants that are here over £11 billion was sent back to their home countries last year, and not spent in the country they reside in.

That should be a good enough start for a monday.

Re: New Immigration Rules

£36,000 pa, we have never earned that in our lives.

I agree with you, immigrants who come over here and claim benefits and have no intentions of working, they should be the one's to be deported back to their own Country.

The thing is, even the immigrants that are working here in England, they send their money back home, so its not being put back into England.

I couldn't believe this! The Nhs will collapse without overseas nurses . If they're going to do this they should have a huge drive to recruit students to train and fill their places, which is not going to happen is it?

According to the news on the radio, these Home Office rules were announced in 2011 to give employers 5 years to recruit local staff. Why is it only now making the news?

What the hell's wrong with Cameron, he always manages to find the wrong way to solve a problem. The Immigration problem is from within the EU not outside, with ten times more immigrants coming here from EU countries.

The Law of Unintemded Consequences applies here . The government just didnt think it through & as with so many knee jerk reactions acted with perceived public opinion .

"throwing out the baby out with the bathwater " comes to mind.

Re: New Immigration Rules

Without these overseas nurses coming here and doing the job, the NHS is either going to collapse or, there will be a greater reliance upon expensive agency nurses, that will bankrupt the NHS eventually and lead to what the conservatives have been quietly striving for. Private Medical Insurance. Yeh asif.

Re: New Immigration Rules

Old Grey Fox,
Sadly there is nothing Cameron, or any other Party Leader, can do about immigrants coming in from the EU. It is a fundamental law for all EU Members, that there is free movement between them. If that really is the root cause of the problem, then we will all have our chance to vote OUT next year.
There is however sod's law - beware of what you wish for - the result could be worse.
One of the problems with EU immigrants, is that they are ,by EU Law, allowed to claim for their family and send it back to the original country.

Exactly! I'm betting they will exempt nurses eventually, though, as it is obvious that the NHS would collapse. Although, as someone else said, maybe that is what they want…nice twist, eh? "You wanted us to control immigration, so we did, and now you will have to reward us by paying lots of dosh for your health service."

Re: New Immigration Rules

Seems to me Cameron and his Conmen has either got the whole problem of immigration horribly wrong. ( which should leave us wondering what sort of monkeys we have leading us) Or this is just another huge scare mongering exercise as part of his pro Europe campaign.
