Re: Britain's fattest man dies

The poor man is dead. I wouldn't wish anyone to end up like that. He had an addiction just like some of us do with other things. I'm a foodie myself. Ok - I don't eat 10,000 cals a day, but I love food. I'm just not that addicted to it like obviously he was. I can't see any blame here. He was what he was and hope he is now resting in peace. Another case of extremes which the world is guilty of today.

It certainly is Patsy. Just think, if the NHS had not provided all those calories he (or more likely some money grabbing lawyer) could sue them for not considering his 'uman rights (To be allowed to eat whatever he wanted)

Since they DID feed him all those calories and he died (So once again some money grabbing lawyer will try to extract some compo from the NHS.)

In the above for NHS read the tax payer i.e. you and me, mad mad world isn't it

*sighs*. All about the tax payer yet again...........

The barriatric, the smokers, the alcoholics, the drug addicts. They all cost a fortune for the NHS, but do you know what? It's life I'm afraid. No point in keeping whinging about it imo.

Saw a programme a few months ago about a few severely overweight people, don't know if it was just the way the programme was staged, but it appeared that the folks concerned were chasing the title to be the heaviest, fame at any cost?

How can someone on disability benefit afford to eat themselves to death? RIP to the poor man but I've been wondering about this since I read the report! I know very few people who can afford more than the occasional takeaway.......

Overeating is such a complex thing and not just about food. I wouldn't condemn anyone who has a food addiction any more than any other kind of addiction .

As for takeaway deliveries being brought to his bedside, well, I suppose they only care about selling their stuff so they won't refuse his custom even if it is killing him.

I agree cranberry. They will just take the money.
Anyway, it's not a delivery boy's job to monitor a customers personal health.

He was well known to the NHS, but surely they failed him, he should have had a psychiatrist he was suffering from a deep depression because his mother had died.
