Free school meals, Labour's new big idea

Could someone explain to me why it should be necessary to provide every primary school pupil with a free meal, when I would guess that 95% of parents can well afford to do so?

Maybe I'm just an old cynic, but is it more to do with class spite and to punish people who choose to provide their children with the best of educations at their own expense?

If this is the best that Labour can do as a big policy idea then they will truly sink without trace.

In a word, Pathetic.

Makes you wonder else can they do to ensure that no one votes for them again?

Not sure who came up with this one most of the labour supporters I know are more keen as I am to make all benefits means tested, including pensions.

You may guess, but you are a long way out with 95%.

What a couple of pointless posts. How can you say definitively that I am wrong when you have no idea yourself? As I said I was guessing so really don't mind being told that I'm wrong by someone who actually knows, but apparently you are as clueless as me..

Maybe I should stop playing the fool and write a paper. Piaget and nutrition?

Do free school meals for everyone ensure greater achievement at primary school leading to greater skills in later life and thus solve any future skill shortages in this country.

I would need copious funding though.
