Feel good story

Well when I taught our soldier boy Jordan to knit he was knee high to a grass hopper and sure it wasn't a boys thing, but he persevered because I said surely girls weren't cleverer than boys

He went into the army and his knitting was made fun of but one by one the lads became fascinated to the point good two thirds of the regiment are now knitters.

This morning a huge box arrived by courier and I thought I didn't order anything ?

So I opened it and it's a huge box of tiny dog jumpers and coats for me to give to dog rescues, and a pile of tiny hats for premature babies for hospitals near by.

I'm so proud of him and them.

They are apparently sending another box of knitted jumpers for homeless people when that arrives I'm to pass it on to the Sally Army for them.

Re: Feel good story

They are all lovely lads when they get time off most of them go round and say hello to all the other families. We've had several drop in here on their way home. It's been an eye opener I admit I was worried when he went into the army a black Muslim who knits didn't sound as if he'd fit in but he's been accepted so well by them all. I won't have anything bad said about our young people while I know young men like them.

Re: Feel good story

Julie I also think it is a lovely story. How wonderful to hear that our soldiers not only look after their country, but also spend their leisure time doing something to make life easier for people in need.

That made me laugh Julie. 'Forget cleaning weapons, we're knitting'.

That is wonderful, Julie, well done to you for teaching Jordan - and well done to him and the lads for the box of knitting !
