But today, and for some time the life of a product is designed in.
If a product - say an electronic unit will be obsolete because of market changes in say five years time what's the point in designing it to last for six years?
Consider a plug and socket as a specific example.
An individual socket can be churned out at 1000 pieces a minute no problem.
Granted it will only provide say 10 insertion / removal cycles but if during the mission life of a product is such that after all tests have been passed the probability of further use is less than five times max during the life of the thing shy pay more for something that will probably never be needed?
And that socket example is real world.
But Chinese products can and do come extremely well engineered and well made - at a price.
So are Chinese products quality products?
Let's define quality as being compliance with requirements.
Get the design spec right and the purchases spec right and you bet Chinese made products are as long as you use reputable suppliers.
