What is happening to our country with all this violent crime?
This morning, just one morning, there was news of yet more violence in this country. In my lifetime I have never known so much violence – two deaths, one a police officer, the other a solicitor and yet another stabbing in London. If not stopped this will I believe, if it hasn’t already, lead to many of us feeling unsafe in our own country.The news reports of two deaths and a stabbing in just one morning’s news is absolutely appalling:
“Pc Andrew Harper was responding to a reported burglary at around 11.30pm on Thursday, near to Sulhamstead in Berkshire when he was killed.
Thames Valley Police Chief Constable John Campbell said Pc Andrew Harper was dragged along by a vehicle while in the line of duty. The officer was out of his own car when he was pulled along, Campbell confirmed.”

“A devoted father and lawyer was stabbed to death with a screwdriver in an unprovoked attack, as seven teenagers were arrested.
He was taken to the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary but died, and a murder inquiry was launched.”

“A civil servant has been stabbed in an "unprovoked" attack outside the Home Office.
Police said they were called to Marsham Street, Westminster, shortly after 1pm "following a report of a man with a knife”.

Another news item, this from January 2019 showing an increase in violent crime:
"Violent crime recorded by police in England and Wales has risen by 19% in a year, latest Home Office figures show.
The number of homicides - including murder and manslaughter - rose from 649 to 739, an increase of 14%, in the 12 months to the end of September 2018.
It is the the highest total for such crimes since 2007."

What do you believe needs doing to stop this continuing, and it seems increasing, level of violence we are seeing?

Within a short time of starting this thread the following news item was notified to me. It's another stabbing, this time in Peterborough, a large city in the county of Cambridgeshire in which I also live. What is happening to our country with all this violent crime?I blame brexit.
A reckless referendum that backfired for the PM, in the middle of an austerity drive! OK, we are officially out of recession now but this brexit blx has meant three whole years of no proper government.
