It depends on which source is used. The smart money says that there was a collection of tribes of nomads who had been captured by the Babylonians that were freed by Persian invaders and then schlepped to Egypt where they were welcomed for their skills and work ethic.

On being released after 40 years of cultural cleansing they travelled North until settling in Samaria and Judea.

You are not going far enough back in time.

The Israelites were Hebrews. The Hebrews descended from Abraham.
Abraham was from Ur, Mesopotamia (now Iraq) . Abraham left Ur and travelled to Haran (now Turkey) where he was only a pilgrim and a traveller. Therefore, Hebrew origins came from outside of Canaan.
He then travelled south to Canaan, Egypt, the Negeb, Hebron, Gezer, Beer-sheba and back to Hebron wher he died.

Abraham and his nephew Lot had split company .Lot chose the Jordan Valley .
Abraham left and went to Hebron
Hebron w as one of the oldest cities in ancient Canaan thought to have been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.

Add to that the battle that took place over the conquest of the Jordan valley .Lot was taken prisoner. So none of these conquests were taken lightly , it was a battle every inch of the way.

That being the briefest of outlines, but you see, the land did not belong to the Israelites at that time, because they were not Israelites and Abraham was as much a Semite or Arab as any other tribe of the times. Canaan had it own Kings, and many of them.

Why did Abraham think he had permission to capture other lands that were not his and why is it considered that Abraham is only the Patriarch of the Israelites and subsequently the Jews ?
He was and always will be the Patriarch of Islam too. His first born son was Ishmael.
So why do still fight each other ? I believe it's in the genes, and they know of no other way to come to a conclusion. Death, death and more death seems to be the order of the day.
Obviously nothing has changed for the last 5000 yrs, so why would we expect it to change now ?

In fact, Jesus came from the town of Nazareth in Galilee. This northern territory of Palestine was also his most important area of activity.

Funny people talk about the citizens of Israel, calling them Israelites.

And a lot of people cannot see the difference between a country, the citizens and a religion.

I dont like Israel.
The country was invented in 1947 because some countried figured jews should have a homecountry.

So far so good, although I have never understood why the ´gypsies" or the other groups killed en masse in the war didnt get their own country.

Problem I have with the state Israel is that it has been stealing extra land since their foundation.

And the rest of the world sits and watches.

The country takes the best lands in their neighbouring countries, it surpresses Palestines just because they are Palestines and whenever someone says something against these actions it is called ´anti-semitism´.

I am absolutley against the actions Israel undertake, and it makes me sick to realise the world accepts it.

It doesnt matter whatever country it would be to do the same...it would be punished in a week.

Yet Israel can do what it wants...

This dislike however has nothing whatsoever to do with the people who happen to live in the country.
And even less with whatever religion these people might follow.

So...this ´anti-semitism´ crying should be reserved for people who attack jews because they are jews.

Palestine was the land of Israel renamed after the Roman conquest by the Romans inorder to make it clear it was theirs .


The previous ones were the Israeli settlers who were known as Palestinians

The present 'Palestinians ' only materialised in 1967
Before that they were Arabs
