Re: Energy companies/switching is not always easy.

Hi Meg I am with Ovo and must say they are the most flexible and transparent of all the energy companies. Choosing the tariff is easy and straight forward you get a monthly statement telling you if you are in credit or minus and there is the option to increase or reduce the monthly debit. If you are in credit they do pay 3% interest. All in all a pretty good company. Brian 8451

Hi Brian that's great thank you. I signed up yesterday.
The energy price is only a fraction less than my current provider but I like to be able to see a monthly bill and monitor my usage.

Let's hope some of these small companies take business from the big 6 , it may help to break what appears to be a monopoly.

I think I'll have a look at Ovo then...really like the idea of them paying you 3% if you are in credit, thanks for this Brian.

I am doing the monthly bill with british gas now as they had me paying £100 for electric and £70 for gas which was a lot and by reading my own monthly meters the bills together have not come over £70 but i do expect them to rise with winter approaching..

Wow Callumsmum that sounds a lot I use £110 per month dual fuel, the good news is you will have plenty in reserve to cover the winter. If I were you I would wait until spring and ask for a monthly reduction or I would be off.

Oops! I misread Callumsmum's post and would have liked to delete my previous post as it was not relevant. Is there a way to do this? the edit button does not seem to have this facility.

Good news about Ovo Meg I read my meter once a month on the same day as I think this helps keep the bills accurate.

Brian I am pleased to report so far I am happy with my switch to OVO .
The switch was easy and they sent me a detailed summary of dates stating when things would happen.

My first online bill arrived today and was easy to read and follow.

I have submitted my first proper online monthly reading so will now be able to keep track of my monthly consumption and to monitor my usage.
