A Foreign Invasion!

A vast 150 sq km raft of pumice is heading toward Australia from an underground volcano that erupted on the 7th August in the Pacific Ocean.

Scientists think in might revive the Great Barrier Reef where it will arrive in 7 to 12 months

I had no idea Pumice moved like that in fact I have never really thought about where it comes from. Very weird. Still, repairing the reef has to be good news.

Blimey Bruce, do they know where it is coming from?
Where the volcano is?

Does that stuff just float on the surface, or is there a depth to the mass as well?

Mups and Susan....
I expect it will help the Barrier Reef because it is porous and will allow marine life to set up home there.....

Re: A Foreign Invasion!

OGF thankyou for answer .

As this is porous and floats how will it attach itself to the reef will it not just float over it

Hope its not a daft question
