I can't disagree with you Bob about Brown, 2 or 3 years and he will be forgotten, but not the damage Thatcher did to this country.
The best thing Blair did was to agree to a state funeral for her when she goes, it will be time for rejoicing in the streets.

Back to Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee, these 2 clowns have blown it by constantly attacking the pensioners of this country, why I ask myself? for the party who have the pensioners behind them will win the next GE.

I disagree completely Arthur, and I think it pretty bad form to wish anyone ill that has served their country so well.

This hatred in some quarters of Margaret Thatcher comes from the fact that not only did she put the unions in their place, but she was also female. That, above all , sticks in the craw of some people.

We should all remember well the absolute mess the country was in in 1979 with the chaos that was the Callaghan government, the sick man of Europe we were called and rightly so. Without the strength, determination and foresight of Margaret Thatcher we would have ended up with total anarchy, as society disintegrated under the pathetic rule of Labour, ruling as mere puppets under the thumb of the trades unions.

Margaret Thatcher rescued us from the edge of the abyss and put the Great back into Britain. For that she should, and will, always be remembered as one of the great Prime Ministers of our time.

It never bothered me that Maggie was Female, and I couldn't care less about the Unions but I still lothed her. She wasn't liked or wanted by Scotland nor are any of her Party.... I can't ever remember a Tory Government being voted in by Scotland....but we have still to put up with them.

Brown was the first to mess with Pensions. Now the other's have joined in.
All three party's are a waist of space. Not interested in the working people of this country.
Labour had 13 years, did nothing but get us all into debt. This lots not much better.
So when you don't trust all the party, who do you vote for.

Margaret Thatcher will go down in History as one of the great Prime Ministers of this country.
If you want to blame anyone for the state of this country during her time in office look a bit closer to home to your greedy comrades in the Trades Unions, who, up until that time, were taking many of their instructions direct from Moscow.

Re: Same old bloody Tories!!!

According to the history charts Maggie was the fith best PM of all time.

To be placed 5th in the all time list means that she must have done a lot of good for the country.

That depends very much Bob onb who drew up the list in the first place.

Derek, as a card-carrying member of the Communist Party throughout that period, I can confirm that not one Trade Union leader received orders from Moscow. Those Trade Union leaders took orders from their own members via the Union's Annual Conferences.

Shaz darlin' I concur fully, hence my suggestion of total abolition of the House of Lords (with its inherent Tory bias) and its replacement with a fully elected second chamber. A move away from Members of Parliament being 'representatives', to be replaced by 'Delegates' - a subtle, but important distinction. In the meantime, do as I did and vote 'Green'. Brighton now has its first 'Green' MP (Dr Carline Lucas) who has a more radical programme than the Labour Party.

Re: Same old bloody Tories!!!

Joe,
Much to my shame, many of the men in my family, including my father were also either members of the commie party, or the more moderate ones, very staunch extreme left wing socialists. I took a long hard look at these relatives of mine and decided when I had my 1st vote at 21yrs of age, that I was going to break the mold and vote Tory. Something I have never regretted although it caused much friction between me and 'them'.

Please do not try to convince me that the Unions are blameless...I have done my homework on this and know exactly what I am talking about.

Derek, learning these things from books is never the same as actually living with it!!! I was (and still am) a Communist not because I read about it, (that came much later) but by conviction because I saw it!!!
